Tattoo Gold is changing

We're currently building a brand new website, so please bear with us while things come together, more information, images and updated pages are coming soon. After six years, the Tattoo Gold tattoo studio in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand has closed. Coen Mitchell and Tattoo Gold are moving on to their next chapter by choice, relocating to the Netherlands to open a new studio space closer to the international clients, conventions and creative community that have always been part of Coen's work. A new studio is being built in Zevenaar, alongside a monthly tattoo residency in Amsterdam and appearances at select

tattoo conventions across Europe.

Coen will be travelling regularly between the Netherlands and New Zealand, continuing to work with clients in both places.

Right now Tattoo bookings are open in the Netherlands, including Zevenaar and the Amsterdam residency. A waitlist is open for tattoo appointments in Auckland, New Zealand in 2027

If you're not sure which applies to you, use the appointment button below to get in touch, and we'll get back to you with the right information.

The artist behind Tattoo Gold

Coen Mitchell is a custom tattoo artist with over 13 years of experience, ranked among the Global Top 100 tattoo artists in the world. Rather than working from one fixed studio for most of his career, Coen has tattooed full-time around the world, with clients flying in specifically to work with him since early in his career.

His work spans large-scale custom tattoos, fineline tattooing, black and grey realism, ornamental and Polynesian-inspired flow work, and his own signature style, Mosaic Flow. He also specialises in paramedical tattooing, restorative work for clients recovering from surgery, scarring or skin changes, alongside cover-up tattoos and long-term custom projects.

Every tattoo starts with a real conversation, about the idea, the body it's going on, how it needs to age, and what the client actually wants long-term. Nothing is picked off a wall and nothing is rushed. That same approach applies whether it's a small fineline tattoo or a multi-session back piece, and it's the reason clients travel internationally to book with him.
