Coen Mitchell

Introducing Coen Mitchell
The name Tattoo Gold was established in 2013 by Coen Mitchell, a Global Top 100 tattoo artist who specialises in realism, fineline, mandala, dotwork, ornamental work, and his own signature Mosaic Flow tattooing style.

In the early stages of his career, Coen apprenticed in Wellington, where he developed an advanced linework-based skillset primarily through Polynesian and Maori art. It was here that he created Mosaic Flow, his own tattooing style. He then moved to Auckland, where he further developed his technical ability in realism tattooing.

Coen paid his dues in the New Zealand tattoo industry and felt the need to push his presence further, which is when he left New Zealand in early 2017 with a suitcase of tattooing equipment to begin the journey of a lifetime, with no plans but to tattoo around the world. Coen spent the next three years travelling and tattooing full-time, working in world-renowned tattoo studios and conventions that challenged him, not only as an artist, but as a young Kiwi from Bulls.

During his travels, Coen's focus was on becoming the best artist he could be, learning the fundamentals of running a tattoo business, growing the Tattoo Gold name, and developing as a person along the way. It was also during this time that Coen met his partner Maxime, in Amsterdam. They later moved to Auckland together, where Coen opened Tattoo Gold as a custom tattoo studio in Takapuna.

After six years in Takapuna, Coen is moving on to the next chapter of Tattoo Gold by choice, relocating to the Netherlands to build a new studio in Zevenaar, alongside a monthly tattoo residency in Amsterdam and appearances at select tattoo conventions across Europe. He'll continue returning to New Zealand regularly for tattoo appointments and projects.

Coen is proud of what Tattoo Gold has become, and even more excited for what's ahead.
